See My New Blogspot as of August 12, 2011 for Classes at Hobby Lobby

Since I am now teaching craft classes on my own, I have set up a new blogspot with a shorter name that is easier to remember, hopefully. It is AnnGCrafts.blogspot.com. Of course, AnnsCrafts was already taken, although not active. I really wish I could have had that blog name........oh well.

If you look at http://AnnGCrafts.blogspot.com from now on, you will get up to date information on my classes that I teach in the Hobby Lobby classroom in the Columbia store. The photos you see in the slideshow at the top of the new blog are photos of the class projects we will be making.

Hi Everyone. I've given my notice at Michaels, so August 25 is my last class there. In the meantime, I've given a full schedule of classes to the lady in charge of scheduling the classroom at Hobby Lobby and once she confirms the room's availability on the days I've chosen, I will post my schedule of classes on my blogspot, which I am hoping will be in a day or two.

Tim Holtz Distress Ink Techniques Class at Hobby Lobby

Learn 4 different Tim Holtz / Ranger Distress Ink techniques while making 4 tags that can go in the paper bag mini album which is a class coming up..... see details below. These tags can go on cards, be used alone, or in mini albums with journaling paper on the back. Very fun to make.

Tim Holtz travel paper bag mini album

Tim Holtz embellishments and paper and some paper from Michaels makes this paper bag mini album for recording your trip a sure hit. Filled with journaling files, tags and places to put photos and tickets from your trip, the mini album stores it all. Class date and time to follow.

Paper Bag Mini Album -- Class coming soon to a location near you!

This paper bag mini album was made using My Mind's Eye paper........keep watching for the next mini album to follow which will be a travel mini album with Tim Holtz products. This class will be a 2 part class since it takes a while to cut all the tags and embellish the album, but boy is it worth it when it is finished. Haven't decided on the dates yet, but will post soon and let you know. It will be in September.

Halloween cards and Mini Treat Bags

If you click on the cards and mini treat bags, it will open a bigger image.........this is a class I will be teaching at Hobby Lobby on Monday, August 15. It will start promptly at 5:30 and run until 7:30pm. Email me by 8/14 to reserve your spot. Cost is $10 as an introductory price for my new classes. Cash payment due the night of the class. All materials provided, you just need to bring scissors and your roller type adhesive. We will be using the Spellbinders beaded circle on the Grand Calibur and lots of EK Success and Martha Stewart craft punches. Class size is limited so email me today.

Private classes being offered -- will come to your house or school

If you see any of the crafts on my blog but can't make it to my classes, I will come to your house within a reaonable distance from Columbia and show you how to make any of these items or something different that you have in mind. I do need to ask that you have at least two other people though so there is a total of 3 people taking the class. The fee is $25 per person,but the price goes down the more people you have, and depending on the craft being taught, may include some supplies.

I can bring my Cricut, Cuttlebug, Spellbinders Grand Calibur, whatever you need to complete your craft project. I also have 6 scoring boards if you have a larger group that would like to do a class. Just email me with your thought and ideas, and we can put together a class.

Giant medallions class Thurs. 8/11 at Ellicott City Michaels

What a great way to decorate your home for FALL with these giant medallions. Make one with the fall leaves on it (bring your own leaves, I will provide the paper and ribbon).

White Christmas Cards -- embossing technique class

These white cards are so much fun to make.....and they are made using any of the Martha Stewart punch around the page punches. I found a similar card on the Hero Arts website but changed it around a little, keeping it simpler. Using a gold leafing pen and gold embossing for the stamp makes it sparkle just enough for the holidays. I added the lattice embossing which I really like doing on the scoring board (learn how to do this in my envelope making class coming up in August). Feel free to leave a comment if you wish. Star Albums -- last week of July at Columbia Michaels

Star Albums are mini scrapbooks that when opened up form a star shape and can stand that way on a tabletop. They fold nicely back into a flat album decorated with a beautiful cover for any occasion. You can use star albums for Christmas, to record the birth of a baby, or for any event. They make great gifts. This is a $10 class.

Treat bags made on the Cricut

These bags don't have to be just for Halloween.........you can make them for Christmas, Valentines, birth of a baby, birthday parties, etc. This class is in August, at both stores, and I provide all the paper. The bags are cut out on the Cricut and the embellishments are either cut on the Cricut or you can use a variety of my Halloween punches. Very cute and fun to make! This is a $10 class.

More Giant Medallions -- Great for Parties, announcing births, house decor

These are the most FUN to make and you can use any paper out there. They measure 22 inches diameter when finished. You will love this class!!!

Butterfly Boxes -- Ellicott City Michaels Class in July

These purses are made using both the Martha Stewart scoring board and the Cricut. If you don't know how to use the Cricut, no problem, we will show you what you need to know. Paper will be provided, just bring adhesive and double sided tape and any embellishments you want. Cost is $10. Class will be offered twice. Thursday morning 10:00-12:00 on July 14 and again on Thursday, July 21 but at 6:30-8:30pm. Don't miss out, register early. Registration closes one day before the class begins.

We are starting a new Intro. to Scrapbooking Class which is a $25 class and will give you everything you need to know if you are new to scrapbooking. We will cover what adhesives work best, how to matte your photos, how to choose the color of cardstock, what album size to use, page layouts, etc.

Christmas in July Class Schedule for Columbia Michaels

Please note: Morning classes have been moved to Wednesdays, other than the class on the 4th of July. Evening classes remain on Monday night.
Complete schedule will be posted in store on the display and on the calendar at the front of the store. It can also be emailed to you if you send me your email address. Supply lists are at the store when you sign up for the class or I can also email those as well. Seating for all classes is limited to 12 and registration closes out one day before the class. 4th of July Class at Columbia Michaels -- Scoring Board Exploding Boxes

This class will really EXPLODE with excitement on the 4th of July at 10:00 am. We will begin by making exploding boxes which will be topped off with paper bows. All supplies (except for adhesives) will be supplied by the instructor. Since there are so many embellishments and so much paper involved in this project, the cost of the class is $25 for 2 hours. You won't be disappointed though. You can bring wallet sized photos to put inside the exploding boxes as there will be tiny pockets and envelopes to tuck cherished items inside.

You will have your choice of either Christmas designed paper, nostaglic paper, or winter themed paper, to a certain limit. Early arrivers get first choice of paper. All will have accompanying embellishments and matching paper for the bows. The class size is limited to 12 and registration will close out on July 1 at 7:00pm so I will have time to prepare supplies. Unfortunately walk-ins will not be allowed on the day of the class.

Supplies you will need to bring to class are:

Martha Stewart Scoring Board and bone folder
Recollections or Provo Craft two sided tape 1/4 inch or wider, 5 yards
Dry adhesive in a roller, not a wet adhesive like a runny glue
Scissors, pencil
Paper trimmer (very important)

Ribbon Loom Class -- Bow Making 1 May 23 Columbia Michaels only

In this class you will learn how to make your own ribbon loom from a Michaels round wooden box that costs $1.00 plus some hardware from Home Depot. You will use some looms that I have made in the class to make your own bows of different sizes and put them on cards. You need to bring at least 30 ft. of organza (sheer, see-through ribbon), large brads, scissors and a pencil, and adhesive. sign up by May 20 as this class will close out early. It is offered at both 10:00am and 6:30 pm. Seating is limited. Cost is $10 for the 2 hours. Register at the Columbia store.

Aren't these purses adorable? We will make them in our May Martha Stewart Scoring Board class at both Columbia and Ellicott City Michaels. The cost is just $10 for a 2 hour class. Bring your MS scoring board, scissors, adhesive and we will supply the paper.

If you are able to take day classes, please let me know or sign up at the store indicating you prefer day classes, otherwise, we are only offering evening classes. I can't wait to share this idea with you!

Donated another 166 cards to Ronald McDonald House April 2011

My husband and I took a trip into Baltimore last Friday to drop off some cards to both the Ronald McDonald House and American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. We got a tour of the RMH and were very surprised at how smoothly things were organized there and how different it was from what I expected. Back home our RMH is a small house that someone donated and probably has all of 5 bedrooms. This is a huge building with 36 rooms, if I recall correctly, each having their own bathroom. They have volunteers come in and cook dinners every night for the "residents" which I thought was so heartwarming, knowing all those families and organizations out there volunteer their time to cook for these residents. That definitely goes unnoticed, but shouldn't.

If you ever need to experience a place where people just keep giving, giving and giving more, this is the place to go visit. You will leave there feeling so good and wanting to volunteer in some way or another yourself.
